HOME COOKED FOOD ROCKS!!
its a labor of love, super yummy, and in my case...free! :o)
besides, this is "a day in the life of my stomach" after all - not "a day in the life of my stomach when we eat out at restaurants only".
this is what was on the menu last night a la my mom & dad:
(don't mind the dazzling ice cream sundae place mats)
it kind of looks disgusting (like most filipino food does) but in the words of Rachel Ray - "YUM-O!" i don't even know what what this dish is actually called. it's pork & ground meat sauteed with tomatoes, onions and chayote. for those that don't know chayote:

Chayote - pronounced [chah-YOH-teh]The chayote is another native Mexican plant and is a member of the squash family. It is also referred to as a "vegetable pear" or chcocho. In France the chayote is called a christophene. The flesh is quite crisp something like a water chestnut.
i love chayote!
