for a tasty snack last night, i made one of my childhood favorites: pandesal pizza.
for those that don't know what pan de sal is - Pandesal (Spanish: pan de sal, literally "salt bread") is a rounded bread usually eaten by Filipinos during breakfast. It is a bread made of flour, eggs, lard, yeast, sugar, and salt. It has a soft, powdery texture and is eaten in a number of ways combined with numerous sandwich spreads.
pan de sal is super yummy because it doesn't have a hard crust like a regular roll - its all soft! crust = bad news. if you eat with me at a restaurant that has hard rolls, when you pick one up you'll see a hole in it and the middle dug out. :o)
here is what my creation looks like:

to make:
1. cut pandesal in half (or any roll/bread)
2. spread pizza (or tomato) sauce
3. add mozzarella cheese
4. add any additional toppings (in my case pepperoni)
5. toast in the toaster oven at 350 until golden brown
6. devour and pretend you're in third grade and just came home from school and your grandma really made it for you

you're missing the EXTRA cheese. =o)
