nyc restaurant week dinner: kittichai

a restaurant that has been on my list for a while - kittichai. finally got the opportunity to try it out this year. upon arrival the scene fit the bill. walls filled with hundreds of orchids lit up in all their glory.

while we waited for bill to show up, we got some cocktails. pictured below are the thai tea and lychee martini. YUM. watch out now - those drinks can do serious damage though to your wallet. with our drinks we decided on the sea bass tempura appetizer. SOOO good. i've never seen such perfect little fried bites of sea bass - and so moist too.

our romantic dinner for 4 ladies was set right next to their koi pond with votive candles (minus the koi). regardless, it was a nice setting and a great date place we decided.

i forgot a photo of my appetizer but it was lemongrass mussels. here's my entree - pineapple short ribs in a green curry sauce. the pineapple was almost non-existent but the short ribs were perfect and the curry sauce was great - though i could have probably used a little more curry in it since i have recently become curry's #1 fan.

on to dessert. like i've said many times, i am not a "fancy" foodie. i'm not adventurous and i like what i like. this dessert was a lemongrass or something-not-normal flan lol. let me tell you, it tasted like perfume! haha...oh well, it looked cute!

in all, i'm glad i finally got to try kittichai but i have to say, i'm not sure if i'd go back again. the cost for our beverages ended up almost double what our food cost lol. its definitely a cute place though for a date and if you've got the money to spend (or have someone else spend) :o)
