bahn mi aka vietnamese sandwhiches

today we tried "boi sandwich" - a little takeout restaurant associated to its parent vietnamese restaurant (http://www.boi-restaurant.com)

sabrina and i both got the quick bite meal - a smaller version of the sandwiches, a cup of soup, and a piece of the baguette bread. we both got bbq pork sandwiches and then i got the chicken lemongrass noodle soup and she got the chicken pho.

our take? the traditional bahn mi sandwich comes in a baguette - our quick bite version was on regular whole wheat bread. though it was good, it crumbled as you picked it up so next time we're definitely going to try the regular size. reviews said that this place is on the expensive side ($7.35 for the complete meal) -- but for that much food in midtown we were totally happy.

i'm happy i was able to witness sabrina's first taste of viet food - now she knows what hoisin sauce is :o)

they got these places "lee*s sandwiches" all over san jose. my homies tell me its good.

i never tried it though. i'm not so much a sandwich guy -- more of a steak and potatoes (or rice) at every meal guy.
